Clay Wendel is a versatile artist working in the intersection of tattooing and chainstitch embroidery. Since picking up a chainstitch machine in late 2022, he’s developed a unique style that blends traditional techniques with bold, illustrative flair. In 2023, he began apprenticing under Mike McAskill at Elizabeth Street Tattoo, where his daily focus on drawing and painting naturally sharpened both his tattoo work and embroidery designs.

Clay has created custom chainstitch pieces for a range of clients—from respected tattooers and independent brands to notable musicians. Whether you're looking for a one-of-a-kind chainstitch design or exploring tattoo ideas, Thread Tripper exists to collaborate on projects that speak to both craft and character.
